Dear Joaquim,
I have tried it. I have tried different
The main thing is that when the points are inside the region, it will create a normal line but if the points are outside, it will create a polygon.
Another interesting thing is when I plot symbols like circles ( -Sc0.2), all symbols will be plotted including the symbols outside the region. It never happened on my old ubuntu and GMT.
Thank you very much.
Muksin

Can you please try to remove the last line of the transform_xy file
and check that the problem still exists ... or not
(please, check that you are posting to the list and not to me only)
Joaquim
Dear Joaquim,
Please find the attached file.
Thank you very much.

Dear Joaquim,
I just installed a newest ubuntu and gmt.
Instead of creating a fault-line (one line) it
creates a polygon connecting the two edge points.
Sometimes, the points of the coastlines are
connected so that I got a weird line.
The script works well on my old laptop using old
ubuntu and GMT

I still don't understand
what is it that you find wrong with the line
plotted with psxy but the coastlines issue look so
much as this other user report

and that I could not reproduce.
Dear Paul,
Here is my script:
#!/bin/tcsh
set psfile="Aceh2.ps"
set la1=2
set la2=5.5
set lo1=96
set lo2=100
rm $psfile
pscoast -R$lo1/$lo2/$la1/$la2 -Df -JM6i -S200
-G80 -K -B0.4NsWe -W1/0 > $psfile
psxy -R -JM -m -N -P -O -K -W10/140
transform_xy >> $psfile
echo showpage >> $psfile
gv $psfile
I got the postscript file as attached.
Even the coastline also results in the closed
polygon.
However, when I choose larger boundary region
it will give a correct fault line
Regards,
Muksin

The only way you would
get a polygon with psxy is if you use
-G<fill> or -L. So an example will be
needed to see what you are doing.

Sorry, I can't resist but "New and
Ubuntu" triggers and infinite loop
in my head
In case I have several line
points outside the region,
when I draw a line it gives me
a closed polygon.
Does anyone have the same
experience?
Please, post a (simple) example,
otherwise I'm afraid we can't help
with it.
